The 13th Regiment Armory was built in 1894 by Rudolph L. Daus. A great granite arch gives support to twin battlemented towers. Features include crenellations, machicolations, and a battered base. It cost a whopping $700,000 to build at the time and led to cries of patronage and pork barrelling. It takes up the better part of a whole city block, fronting Marcus Garvey Blvd.
