Simple lobby plays off of entrance theme.  Designed by Jacob M. Felson (1939).  Probably typical of most Art Deco buldings in West Bronx.  Note sun ray theme on inner asymmetric doors as well as outer door designs.

Architectural references to towers and battlements grace this facade.

This 1922 building (Margon & Glaser) inspired by Palazzo Medici in Florence, its Italianate nature suggested by upper story balconies.  Predates Art Deco.

St. Joseph's School for the Deaf, Throgs Neck, Bronx, New York, New York

St. Joseph's School for the Deaf was built in 1898 (Schickel & Ditmars).  The Flemish style is striking and is a head turner for drivers on the Hutchinson River Pkwy.
 
 




"Potemkin Stairs," Heath Ave., Kingsbridge Heights, Bronx, New York, New York

A pedestrian walkway connects Heath Ave. to Kingsbridge Terrace at 229 St.  Ukraine's seaport, Odessa, is famous for such stairs on a grander scale.
