University of Southern California, University Park, Los Angeles, California

Rice Univ. has it's live oaks, USC has it's violet Jacarandas in full bloom in May.  Pretoria, South Africa, is famous for the tree also.  They grow word wide.  Founded in 1880, USC is California's oldest research university.  Sports are strong: if USC were a country, it would be 12th in Olympic gold medals.  Enrollment is about 40,000 students.  Zumberge and Mudd Halls are among earliest buildings and established Romanesque style.
