Steinway Mansion, Astoria, Queens, New York, New York

This is one of the most unusual sights in NYC.  Driving down 41st St. you enter a veritable jungle canopy, with a dark gray granite mansion buried amongst thick tree foliage.  It was built by Benjamin Pike in 1850s, an optician.  Steinway used it as a summer residence.
